okay, that's done. i'm now officially a yeast rancher.
after bungling a starter (that's gonna be a(nother) dark tripel if i don't decant that carmelized, oxidized, darkened DME wort outta the flasks) i pitched most of my two yeasts into the starter flasks, but managed to get a bit into a couple of empty slants. i may have cross contaminated the starters, which is okay, but i am quite certain i did not cross contaminate the slants, which would have been very bad.
once the starters were off to the stir plates, i did my best to inoculate 3 slants of each. out of the 8 slants i made the other night, only 2 were really looking good. i wiped instead of stabbing, and i did one yeast with a flamed inoculation needle and hte other yeast with a disposable plastic loop. we'll see if any of the stuff makes any difference at all.
i've got more lab gear on the way. this is actually, even with all the screwups, quite fun.
