bowl-o-rama
so yesterday, my pa, for the first time since i've known him (all my life, as a matter of fact), says he knows what he wants for his birthday. my dad's a nightmare to gift; he never says what he wants, and everyone knows that no matter what they give him, he won't like it (or at least he won't use it. he certainly won't read it).
so when he says he knows what he wants it's quite a thing. quite a unique thing.
evidently in his (well-deserved) unemployed retirement, he has decided to return to the kingly sport of...

bowling. he wanted bowling gear. his birthday is still 2 weeks away so i had hope of coordinating with the home office to acquire the necessary stuff. tragically, he destroyed my oil-rich hopes in an overwhelming pre-emptive strike, going on a bowling-gear binge that rivals my rei camping-gear binges.
now he's got all he wanted for his birthday and i'm left, once again, with just a card. which i haven't got yet.
