loaded up my new backpack to see how i came in.

i ended up with about the same or more (40lbs with no water) as my last overnighter. that's lots, eh. i'm not sure what i can cut back on. let's guess:

coffee grinder: prolly 1-2lbs
bear vault: 2lbs
1st aid kit: 1-2lbs
tevas: 3-5lbs
rain fly: 2lbs

that's uh... 9-11 lbs. BUT this pack is so nicely balanced and fit that it makes it feel about 20lbs lighter than the ALICE pack.

i spose if i was a brave man i could ditch the tent for a bivy or even just a mosquito net and save 4-5 lbs.
