HIT
while i was home waiting for grandma to die (sigh :/) i picked up this book at borders:
in my former life i held HIT in low regard. the people whom I respected held HIT in low regard so I took it as gospel that it was, as they said in all their humor, sHIT. but i needed something to read so I got it.
HIT is all about abbreviated workouts (1 set per exercise, 8-12 exercises per workout), low volume (8-12 reps, 1-3 times per week), and lots of rest.
as my priorities shift from indoor weight training to outdoor running, hiking, backpacking, and camping, i find myself strongly drawn to a methodology that advocates training only twice a week.
my first workout (which was not HIT -- HIT advocates training each set "to failure", something I've never done in 4+ years of training. i need to un-train myself) lasted 25 minutes for a total of 11 sets. whether it was pointful remains to be seen.
